The Groton City Council met on the above date at 7:00pm at City Hall for their
regular second monthly meeting with the following members present: Hendrickson,
Anderson, Brotherton, Hamilton, Nyberg, Heitmann, and Mayor Olson presiding.
Moved by Anderson and seconded by Hamilton to approve the minutes as read. All
members present voted aye.
Merry Lone, Pres., and Joy Voss, Sec. Of the Bristol Swimming Pool Board came
before the Council to invite Groton to come to their swimming pool during
reconstruction of the Groton pool. They provided information on open swimming,
lessons, and employment opportunities. Busing options will be explored.
First Reading of Ordinance No. 648, The Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, was
given on a motion by Heitmann and seconded by Nyberg. All members present voted
aye.
Moved by Brotherton and seconded by Hendrickson to authorize Dale Ringgenberg to
attend the ICS training in Aberdeen on Feb 12-13 as city representative. All
members present voted aye.
A request from Elda Stange for deferment of curb & gutter special assessments
until property sale was granted on a motion by Hendrickson and seconded by
Hamilton. All members present voted aye.
Kent Webb reported that a driveway approach charged to him on the 2007 special
assessment roll was the school's driveway. Moved by Anderson and seconded by
Nyberg to amend the 2007 special assessment roll to reflect this correction. All
members present voted aye.
A library meeting with the school will be attended by the committee. An income
survey for a swimming pool grant will be conducted by finance office staff.
Members were reminded of the skating carnival, viewing of the Rescue Squad
vehicle, the upcoming election and DARE graduation.
Moved by Hamilton and seconded by Anderson to adjourn into executive session at
7:32pm to discuss personnel matters. All members present voted aye. Council
reconvened into regular session at 8:42pm.
