Meeting called to order by Chairman Wiese at 8:45 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Chambers, Courthouse Annex, Brown County, SD. Present were Commissioners Hansen, Fischbach, Feickert and Knecht.

Moved by Fischbach, seconded by Hansen to approve the Joint City/County Meeting minutes of January 14, 2008 and the General Meeting minutes of January 15, 2008. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.

Moved by Fischbach, seconded by Feickert to approve employee status change for Leon Vickers from part-time Highway employee to full-time @ $12.31 per hour, effective January 22, 2008, with all benefits except insurance. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
VACATE PLAT:
Moved by Hansen, seconded by Fischbach to authorize advertising public hearing to consider approval of petition to vacate a plat, described as Podoll’s First Heritage Subdivision in the NW ¼ of the SW ¼ of Sec 9-T125N-R63W of the 5th P.M., Brown County, SD, to be held at 10:00 A.M. on February 5, 2008 in the Commissioner’s Chambers, Courthouse Annex, Brown County, SD. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
SW DISPOSAL FACILITY RENEWAL:
Moved by Hansen, seconded by Knecht to acknowledge and approve application to renew the permit issued by the SD DENR for the Town of Claremont to operate a restricted use solid waste facility in the NW ¼ of the NE ¼ of Sec 2-T125N-R60W, Brown County, SD to dispose of trees and wood waste; yard waste composting; and white goods storage. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.

Moved by Fischbach, seconded by Knecht to approve the following Abatement: Roger Bitz @ $31.32. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 046 – FIRST READING:

DACOTAH PRAIRIE MUSEUM FEASIBILITY STUDY:
Sue Gates, Dacotah Prairie Museum Director presented the Pre-Campaign Feasibility Study Prospectus Winter 2008 Booklet that explains the completed needs assessment, plans to address the needs, and proposed capital campaign to raise funds for implementation and expansion.
Information was also presented in regard to the scope of duties required for the Dacotah Prairie Museum to administer the All Dakota High School Arts Exhibition held each spring at the Granary Rural Cultural Center.
HOSPITAL CLAIMS:
Moved by Knecht, seconded by Hansen to deny payment of the hospital bill for a 38 year old male @ $4,242.82, as the individual has not provided sufficient information to determine if indigent. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
Moved by Hansen, seconded by Fischbach to deny payment of the hospital bill for a 34 year old male @ $8,565.49, as the individual has not provided sufficient information to determine if indigent. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
