Town of Westport General Meeting

July 31st, 2009

The Town of Westport met on July 31st, 2009 with Mark Van Dover, Todd Hertel, and Steven Mitzel present.

The following expenses were presented:

Todd Huettl made motion to pay all bills; second by Mark Van Dover.

 

Todd Hertel attended the Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) meeting on July 8th, 2009 at the Brown County Courthouse. The Westport City Council will be compiling a cost/benefit ratio proposal for flood mitigation to be presented at the next PDM meeting to be held on September 2nd, 2009.

City Council members are continuing to get bids and to put the proper paperwork together for FEMA in an attempt to obtain some flood recovery, versus mitigation, funding from the Federal & State levels.

Building permit for Brad & Jan Ellefson was approved.

The Council approved the Resolution of the City of Westport to Establish Intent to be Included in the Columbia Rural Fire Protection District. Residents in the Columbia Rural Fire Protection District, encompassing approximately 250 square miles, will vote in November to approve/deny becoming a part of the district. The Brown County Auditor will take care of sending notices to the public, setting up the voting, etc.

The September meeting will be on Tuesday, 9/8/09, due to the Monday holiday.
