SPECIAL MEETING
May 18, 2009

President Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:30pm in the High School Library. Members present: Hanson, Larsen, Luttrell, McNamara, Nelson, and Rix. Others present were Superintendent Schuster and Business Manager Weber.

Moved by McNamara, second Hanson to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried.

The board reviewed a letter from Quest Construction announcing their bid withdrawal from the East Side Building Addition project due to a tabulation error in their bid. Architect Dean Marske was in attendance to explain the error.

Moved by Rix, second Luttrell rescind a prior motion awarding Quest Construction as low bidder for the building project. Motion carried.

The board reviewed the remaining bids from the bid tabulation sheet of May 8th, including the base bids and each of the seven alternates. The board also reviewed the financial package including the original motion to approve $2,000,000 in capital outlay certificates with a 13-year payback.

Moved by Luttrell, second Rix to approve the base bid and alternates 1-6 from JDH Construction for a total of $1,723,850. Motion carried. Alternate 7, at a cost of $67,800, will be considered at a later date. The original $2,000,000, 13-year payback financing package remains in place.

A letter of resignation was read from custodian Dennis Davies. His last paid date would be May 22nd. The issue was deferred to executive session.

Moved by McNamara, second Larsen to move the June 8th board meeting to June 9th at 7:30 pm in the high school library. Motion carried.

Moved by Rix, second Larsen to go into executive session at 8:00pm to discuss personnel issues. Motion carried.

Nelson declared the board out of executive session at 8:50pm.

Moved by Larsen, second Hanson to accept the resignation of Dennis Davies. Motion carried.

Moved by Luttrell, second McNamara to adjourn. Motion carried.
