The Groton City Council met on the above date at 7:00pm at the Groton Community
Fire Department, Inc. meeting room for a special meeting to discuss a fire truck
purchase, and fire taxing district with the following members present:
Hendrickson, Brotherton, Nyberg, Heitmann, Hamilton, and Mayor Olson presiding.
Bruce Sippel, Chairman of the Groton Community Fire Dept., Inc. Board of
Trustees conducted the meeting. Discussion was held on the need for a new fire
truck, funding options, options for payments of each share. The fire board voted
to establish a Fire Tax District on a 6 to 2 vote with the City representatives
as the nay votes. It was also decided to apply for 50 % funding on a federal
grant for the truck.
