Planning & Zoning Meeting

• The Groton Planning and Zoning Commission met Monday night and took the following actions:
• Approved a variance for Sherwin Nyberg to build an 8x10 garage three feet from the east lot line back by the alley.
• Approved a replat for Joel Frohling which would eliminate a cul de sac on the north side of the property.
• Denied a building permit to Marc Hanson, which was denied by the zoning administrator. He wants to build a structure on the northwest corner of his property that he owns at the corner of Sixth Street and Fifth Avenue. The commission instructed Hanson to submit a new building permit indicating that there would be living quarters in this structure and with the proper elevation, the zoning administrator would approve the building permit.
• Approved a plat for Dennis K. Larson for property on the west side of 405th Avenue, about one mile west on Apsen Avenue. He had two lots in the plat.
• Made an administrative rule indicating that the addressed side of the home on a corner lot does not necessarily need the 30-feet setback. The only requirement is that one side of a corner lot needs to be 30 feet and the other side 15 feet. The front door will have the address.
• Listened to Clint  Jacobson make a proposal for platting addition lots on his property just outside the side limits, east of town.
